Martial Art School of Excellence since 1995

Our mission is to build our students in to black belt champions; to make our students more successful in life through the practice of Kuk Sool Won and to influence them in a positive manner.
To accomplish this, we must instill the champions attitude; to set goals for self-improvement and to develop the never-give up attitude that is necessary to overcome obstacles and become more successful in life.
Next we hope to educate and influence a student’s overall behavior so they will develop the habits and lifestyle that will lead towards long term success; to learn and practice self-discipline in everything we do.
Finally, is to reinforce solid character development and to live by the set principles and standards that can be applied to daily living, to encourage the formation of high personal standards and demonstrate respect for all human beings.
We will constantly strive to maintain our commitment to lead by example with energy and excellence.
Martial arts code of behaviour
Starting Martial Arts training at Kuk Sool Won. Read this now as a student, and refer to it later as memory fails or questions arise.
As a new student you will hear the word “etiquette”. You will learn that proper etiquette accounts for a high percentage of your score on belt tests. You will hear the Instructors say that the first thing to be learned as a student of Martial Arts is etiquette. What do they mean by etiquette? They mean the proper code of behaviour for a Martial Artist.
What is the proper code of behaviour for a Martial Artist? The deceptively simple answer: Any behaviour that is motivated by Respect. If you truly learn this Martial Art, it is inevitable and natural that you will develop respect for the Art. In appreciating the truth and beauty of the Art, you will also automatically develop respect for the Instructors who impart their knowledge to you. Likewise, you will have respect for your classmates who share your learning adventure. Also, you will respect yourself as a Martial Arts student.
Always address the Instructors by their correct title. You may also say “Sir” or “Ma’am”. Using the Instructors first name or saying “Hey you” is not polite or respectful. Instructor titles are as follows:
Jyo Kyo Nim: 1st Degree Black Belt
Kyo Sa Nim: 2nd Degree Black Belt
Pu Sa Bum Nim: 3rd Degree Black Belt
Sa Bum Nim: 4th Degree Black Belt
Pyung Kwahn Jang Nim: 5th Degree Black Belt
Joo Im Kwahn Jang Nim: 6th Degree Black Belt
